| Teh Tarik |
The lliteral translation is "pulled tea".
Type: Indian-Malay (but now also widely incorporated in Chinese cuisine)
Ingredients
This "aerated" tea concoction has become the staple drink of Malaysians. Drunk during breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner, supper and even in the middle of the night (!), teh tarik has, in a major way, become customary for Malaysians. The name - literal translation, pulled tea - is derived from the way it is made. The tea is poured through the air (i.e. "pulled") from one container (glass) to another. In the process of the tea concoction traveling through the air, it traps gases and forms a layer of froth at the top (see photo above). |
