餐 zǎo cān
The English word breakfast 早餐 zǎo cān is
derived from the words "break" and "fast". To fast is to not eat. As a
person does not eat when asleep, he or she can be considered
fasting. So, the first meal one eats after a fast is the one
that breaks the fast. This is the first meal of the day.
Among the many popular Malaysian breakfasts include the roti
canai, nasi lemak,
Bario rice dumplings (as shown above) and nasi dagang (as
shown below).
