Malaysia is a Constitutional Monarchy with Parliamentary Democracy. It,
therefore, has a monarch or ruler. The ruler of the country is called
the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. According to the Malaysian Constitution, His
Majesty is the Supreme Head of State. Seri Paduka Baginda Yang
di-Pertuan Agong (full title for His Majesty) is also the Supreme
Commander Of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
The current (thirteenth) Yang di-Pertuan Agong, His Majesty Seri Paduka
Baginda Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan
Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah was installed on 26 April 2007. Tuanku Mizan
Zainal Abidin is from the State of Terengganu.
