What is it?
A dress consisting of blouse and a sarong (a sheet of wide cloth joined at both sides).

Who wears it?
It is worn mainly by Malay women.

When is it worn?
As it is rather tight (but through time, it became less so and thus more suited for women of the Islamic faith), Baju Kebaya is usually worn during special occasions, such as weddings.

Where did it come from?
Some say it came from the Arabic word habaya which means a long dress with a split in the front. There are others who say that it was the Portuguese who brought the dress (fashion) to Melaka.
