Ten Little Indians
The nursery rhyme which goes like this
One little two little three little Indians
Four little five little six little Indians
Seven little eight little nine little Indians
Ten little Indian boys.
was said to derive from the "Ten Little Indians" poem which had verses such as these
Ten little Indian boys went out to dine;
One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Seven little Indian boys chopping up sticks;
One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.
Two little Indian boys sitting in the sun;
On got frizzled up and then there was one.
One little Indian boy left all alone;
He went and hanged himself and then there were none.
Today, many are aware of how racist and derogatory (see discrimination) the nursery rhyme is. They have replaced the song "Ten Little Indians" with "Ten Little Soldier Boys".
Note: The word "Indians" in the song is used erroneously to refer to the Native Americans.
