This army of clay
warrior figurines is part and parcel of the tomb of the first
emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang.
Archaeologistshave
discovered that the terracotta warriors (now gray) were painted in
bright colours during the construction of the tomb circa 200 BCE (Before
the Common Era). Accidentally unearthed by farmers in 1974, the
tomb was virtually untouched for over 2000 years.
Besides the terracotta warriors, the site - now a museum
- is home to terracotta horses, bronze
chariots and ancient weapons, among others. Further digs have also
uncovered terracotta musicians and acrobats.
The Terracotta Army Museum is located about 42km away from the
city of Xian, China.

Patung-patung
tentera terracotta (tanah liat) dijumpai dalam makam Maharaja
Cina pertama, Qin
Shi Huang.
Ahli-ahli
arkeologi / kaji purbatelah menemui
bahawa patung askar terracotta dicat dengan warna semasa
pembinaan makam maharaja tersebut (lebih daripada 2000 tahun
dahulu). Makam ini dijumpai secara tidak sengaja oleh
petani-petani pada tahun 1974. Selama tempoh masa ia dibina
senjata-senjata purba. Penemuan terbaru dalam makam
itu termasuk pemain musik dan akrobat terracotta.
Muzium Tentera Terracotta terletak 42km dari bandaraya
Xiandi negeri Cina.
