Hmong
One
of the ethnic minority groups of China. Another name for this
group is "Miao". It is believed that between 4000BC and 3000BC, the
Hmong people lived in the province of Hebei in China. When the Han
Chinese population grew, they expanded into the land of Hmongs and
drove them south and southwest. Later in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911
AD), thousands of them were further driven to Southeast Asia (Burma,
Laos, Vietnam and Thailand).

Apabila bilangan penduduk Han Cina bertambah, mereka berkembang dan menguasai kawasan Hmong. Akibatnya, kaum Hmong diusir ke bahagian selatan dan tenggara negara Cina. Semasa Dinasti Qing, beribu-ribu orang Hmong dihalau lebih jauh ke selatan - ke Asia Tenggara (seperti negara Burma, Laos, Vietnam dan Thai).
